Ipod Volume Firmware (UK Vs. US)

I know all about the maximum decibel limit on EU Ipods. Ive just ordered a US 16GB 4G Nano.

Question: If I update its firmware via Itunes when it arrives, will Itunes install UK firmware and somehow overwrite the US firmware, essentially recapping the volume limit? (Im in the UK).

I made the initial mistake of buying a UK Nano thinking GoPOD would uncap it, however it doesnt work on 4G Nanos (cant see it connected). Ive had many high end MP3 players in the past such as the Cowon Iaudio 7 which is super, super loud. Was very dissapointed in the volume on the UK Nano.

Thanks

Shouldn't do. I've got a US bought 3G iPod (can't remember Apples preposterous description for it now, something like iPod with dock connector and lots of buttons on the front) so admittedly it's a little old.

Anyways I've updated it a couple of times and no volume limiter.

I've always found the volume on my shuffle/iphone ample, both are UK spec, you guys cant like your ear drums much eh?

Do you really need to have the volume that high? I find anything over 70% or so on my Touch is far too loud and even good headphones start to distort.

Assuming you're using IEMs they should block out enough noise not to need the volume too high.

As for your question... i'm really not sure but I would register a US iTunes account just to be on the safe side.

Cheers guys.

I like my ears to bleed..

..seriously though, I have a pair of Super-Fi EBs and they like to be punished to get the best from them :)

Serious headphones can need a decent amount of volume to power them. My portable Sennheiser CX300 rarely need more than 10% volume, whereas big cans I use at home need 60%+ for the same listening volume.

Yeah, but SuperFi's and most other IEMs will have a low impedance so they'll be easy to drive.

@ OP - If you do have issues with the volume I would suggest something like the Fiio e5, it's small and shouldn't have an adverse affect on the sound quality of the Nano but will increase the volume.
