Is 32GB memory worth it?

Anybody confirm if the 32GB Ballistix mentioned here are in fact Micron E? I seem to remember reading somewhere that only the 8GB sticks were and the 16GB ones were Micron B.
Cheers

Crucial Ballistix BL2K16G36C16U4B 3600 MHz, DDR4, DRAM, Desktop Gaming Memory Kit, 32GB (16GB x2), CL16

The above worth it for my system at 137.99 or wait for equivalent 8-pack to fall in price???
That looks like a good price for 3600MHz C16 - are we starting to see the much forecast memory price falls?

This comment was left somewhere:

Works as advertised. Got them for a great price. Be aware that these are not Micron Rev E die, but rather Micron Rev B die. Still stable at 3600 MHz, as advertised, but not the famed Rev E that the community has grown to love and cherish for its overclocking potential. Micron Rev E is more common on the smaller memory sticks like 8 GB. I got this info from Taiphoon Burner.

But overclocking aside, this kit should be good for a Zen 3 system at 3600 MHz/C16.

When 3200 used to be the highest frequency Crucial made, the 3000 CL15 and 3200 CL16 kits were Micron E die, and 2400-2666 CL16 were Micron B die. Now after they realized what the E die chips could do, they are binned to the 3600 kits at least.

I had 2x16 Gb Micron B die 2x16 gb 2666 before and it needed 1.45v for 3200 CL14. I wanted something better than that that could do at least 3600 CL16, but any such 2x16 Gb kit at the time was £300+, while the 3200 Ballistix was £150 so I bought that and got this:

Which has now been running at 4200 CL16 for a week without any issues.

I already tried emailing Crucial support to ask if they could list or at least tell me which of their kits were E die, all they respond with is whether or not the product is in stock and whether I want to buy it. The main issue is that even the people working for Crucial in general dont know anything about ram dies / ICs.

They are however now and since they added the new heatspreaders to Ballistix ram binning them for higher, and by the look of it the E die kits would be the ones that are now specified for CL!6 3600 1.35v, but the only way to know for sure is to use taiphoon burner after buying it.

Micron E die CL16 3600 1.35v is highly likely to push to 3600 CL14 and 4000+ CL16 if you put 1.45-1.55v through it, even on the 16 Gb modules. Even better is the 1.35v 4000 and 4400 kits they have in the Ballistix Max range but those are hard to find and very expensive - I've been trying to keep an eye out for the 2x16 Gb 4400 kit for ages just out of interest and its never been in stock anywhere.

It really depends on the use case

my 10 year old Mac is running 96gb of ram and makes good use of it for productivity my shiny new ryzen gaming rig has 32gb and never really uses more than half of it

I got bored of waiting for price drops here so got Ballistix 2x16GB 3600 c16 elsewhere for GBP137.99.

Will let you know what Thaiphoon says for my RAM when I get it re. Micron B/E...

Look forward to knowing, thanks

Got the Ballistix 3600 C16 2 x 16GB installed and working perfectly out of the box with XMP1.

Had a go in Microsoft Flight Simulator and can now enjoy a much smoother experience at Ultra settings out of JFK airport - about 20GB use with clear weather.

Just checked on Thaiphoon and it's Micron B / 17nm rather than Micron E.

I may try to OC the RAM eventually but for now it does exactly what I need, no hassle and at a reasonable price.

Thats a shame, I was wanting to find out what kits they currently put E die on, maybe its random even. I think its pure luck of the draw which one you get then.

I just got a set this morning, 2x 16gb
Thaiphoon confirms E-die. Week 32 2020. It's pretty fresh.
Testing now !!!

*Edit*

Ticking along nicely at 3800 c16 on my 3900 (non x)

I just got a kit through the post, where does it say week? It says '2031' just under the CE logo, is that week 31 2020?

I got 2 of the 8gbx2 kits (32gb in total across 4 Dimms) all are 19m e-die (BLK8G36C16U4B.M8FE1, C9BKV, week 33). Running the 4 dimms at 3733cl16, with room for improvement

@clv101 check with Thaiphoon Burner

I got 32GB recently for FS2020. I've definitely made use of it and whilst not dramatic, have noticed an improvement and used up to 75% of the 32GB at any one time.
