Is 4k monitor resolution even worth it yet?

tried it, its OK but I cant imagine many people use them for games

when monitors transition over to OLED I imagine all of them will be 4K,
thats when it will become a thing ( though I find VR more interesting
than better flat screens at the moment )
 
To the people complaining about not been able to hit 60fps on a 980ti/titan x, what games and settings are you actually playing at that struggle? The vast majority work perfectly at 60 with the odd new exception like the witcher 3 and tomb raider but everythign else works fine maxed or with some settings turned down. Telling people a single card struggles to hit 60 with out context is very misleading.

No problem here getting 60fps or a lot higher @2160p.

Having said that gaming is about the game not the quality of the image in front of you.

If you want a great visual experience, go to an art gallery.:D:)

Could not agree more never had any issues myself with 60fps or less until it drops down to around the 30/35 fps area.

Might aswell play the game on 720p with an old trusty amd athlon 64, 2gb RAM and a gtx 660 and save yourself a heap load of cash :p

Sli and 4k working like a charm for me max settings. Solid 60fps is enough for me and no I dont want to see a faster refresh rate display as I will probably regret it. Just condition yourself to 30fps for a while then 60fps looks very smooth.lol

I think I would rather run 1080p at Ultra settings and 100 fps than fork out the gpu power needed to chase 60fps on medium settings, mGPU hardly works anyway so it all seems a bit pointless
 
I have a 1440P and 4K monitor, The difference between them ingames is minuscule yet the performance needed for 4K compared to 1440P is quite huge.

IMHO get a good 1440P G-Sync high refresh rate display.
 
Had a couple of 4k monitors and loved them, yeah my TX managed 40fps+ with the help of gsync. Then I went 100hz, and I couldn't believe what I was missing out on. The difference was bigger than a slightly sharper desktop. Add the Ultra wide 21:9 into the mix and I soon forgot all about 4k, oh and the added 40% FPS I got back was nice also.

Smoothness > FPS > Sharpness

4K @ 40fps and 60hz, is far from ideal in most games.

The 4K monitor I have is an Asus PB287Q, Got it from B-Grade for quite cheap, Good monitor and great for a workstation type environment with lots of windows open but for gaming the difference between 1440P and 4K is so tiny to me it's just not worth the performance cost.
