hey just joined on the site and forum being reccomended by a friend, played a lot of pc games as a young teen original cods and mohaa and guild wars after my pc died i just got an xbox. id like to get back in to pc gaming but am way out of touch when it comes to parts etc. i was just going to get a pre build one from over clockers , is 500 to low of a budget to play present games on good settings?

also how do pc gaming tend to be these days ? as when i played it was the only real place to play online, has the console market hit the pc numbers hard ?

If you need everything, Tower, Monitor, OS, keyboard ect then £500 is a bit on the low side. For a decent gaming computer then you are looking at around £750 - £1000 all in.

AS far as online gaming there is still an active community for most newish games and some old ones.

Since you only require a tower £500 can get you a decent pc that can play modern games in high settings if you build it yourself.

£500 should do you a fairly decent PC. Obviously not amazing, but you'll be able to play a few games on quite high graphic settings. I'm sure someone will spec you a system shortly!

how easy is putting it together ? thats something id be abit worried about

Read through the instructions, take your time, and don't force anything anywhere that it doesn't want to go and you will be fine. Look up the youtube Newegg guides as they are good.

You will be fine, Unless you are a idiot then they are very difficult to screw up, and the smug sense of satisfaction you get after it is up and running makes it worth it.

i should point out iv got monitor keyboard and mouse etc. and an OS

A bit late, but having those will save you a good amount of money ;) Im getting my final pieces for my mid-range computer (with low/mid gfx card) and its probs cost about £800, although im afraid to add it up properly lol. Still need UPS and speakers in a few weeks! Im ok with it though, I shopped around and used Overclockers discounts and probs saved £100's.

As for building, just take your time and read tutorials beforehand so you know what youre doing :)

how much would it cost to get a prebuilt one like the ones iv got quoted ?
