Is a GTX780 overkill?

Crysis is not Bradley coded....

The problem is probably a guy called Bradley that didn't know how to optimize the game engine.

In DX 10 the game runs terribly bad and it is poorly optimized, as is Crysis in 64bit. The game only runs "well" if you run the game in DX 9, 32bit and with a custom config. Anyone that played Crysis will tell you that ;).

It's still not badley coded.... People have been spoilt by battlefields fakery.... That's what the problem is...

My mate used to have a GTX580 1.5gb

He bought a 780ti the other day and is running it perfectly with his 2500k (running at 4.7)

massive performance upgrade, quieter, and more than double the performance in many cases.

i have used Msi afterburner for overclocking, is it like a benchmark in the program which checks for bottlenecks.

You can enable various readings for in-game use, such as 'gpu usage'. If you're consistently seeing a low / less than ideal percentage of usage when playing games, then you can be sure that the card is being held back.

2500k overclocked is fine for a single card set up. If you want another one then you'll more than likely need to pick up an i7 to max GPU usage.

An i5 can bottleneck two high end GPU in games like BF3/4. One GPU and an i5 is fine.

I had a 2500k before this 2600k and I can tell you from personal experience that a 2500k at that clock is not enough to get the full potential from a 780

That is complete rubbish, the difference between a 4770K @ stock compared to 4.5 overclock is worth 1% performance boost at high res, and 11% on low res, the difference between the 4770K v 4760K is 0.17% @ high res and 4.1 at low res, so in short for high res gaming i wont matter what CPU you have in your build if its for gaming only!

I can tell you for a fact that you're CPU limited in a goof chunk of games unless your gaming at 4k.

I still get games that aren't at 100% load with a single card

And i can tell you for a fact that the only bottleneck is still the GPU, after 1080P any advantage the 2600K had over the 4760K is down to 1% equals 1 FPS more on average, step up to 1440P and you wont see anything at all!

Crysis 1 isn't the only game that only uses 2 cores...

Yea cos we all spend £££ on new stuff just so we can play the old stuff which is no doubt optimised for the hardware available at the time, sorry if feels like im picking on you, but you are the only one that seems to agree with you, and btw in case you are not aware Crysis 3 is out now, and still my 780ti is @ 99% usage, and still my GPU is the bottleneck as was the 780 before it, the only main difference is see between I5 and I7, and only see 3D mark 11 or 13 is the Physics score thats it!

I ran SLi 780's with a 4.5Ghz 2500k and it worked every bit as well as my current 4770k system with both GPU's being utilised fully at 1440p.

Tbh going from the 2500k to 4770k was a waste of money for me gaming wise.

If you are using a single 1080p screen a 780 and 2500K will serve you very well.

same here dude, if i never borked my motherboard id still be on the 2500K, i have a Q6600 rig here, im going to after try the 780ti in that to see cpu can handle it

P.S sorry for the multi post, tried to merge them all but could not delete the previous posts :)
