is a Radeon VII an upgrade from a good Vega 64

For frigg sake mate, No I'm not trolling, No need to make it into yet another pointless forum argument, I said 5-10%, Anandtech said 15-20%, Whoopdeedoo, It's not important at all in any way shape or form, Move on.

Your posting on an enthusiast forum, so it's to be expected that many do care about numbers. For GPU performance, there's a bit difference between 5% and 20%. Best not to post random numbers if your just plucking them out of thin air, or just move on.

Ahh okay fair enough mate, I'll take your word for it, I haven't taken the dive to VR yet, currently on a Vega 56. How is the change to VR for you?

I'm enjoying it! It's a great addition to my gaming setup. As long as you've got 2Mx2M to dedicate to it, it's fantastic. Completely different game experience, extremely immersive and a very good health tool. Standing up, moving around, crouching for a few hours session is far healthier than a seated session!

Well it's you who took it the wrong way and for whatever reason started an argument as is the way with many on this forum it seems sadly, Maybe the lockdown is getting to people so they take their aggression out online and start arguments because they are frustrated.

I never said my numbers were the be all and end all, Just my experience, I'm off for the day, Have a good day :)

I think your reaching for something that's just not there. It's not aggressive to post that someone's numbers are wrong, it's to be expected on such a forum. If your 'experience' differs from the trusted benchmarks (from professional reviews) then you must expect that people will call you out (in a non aggressive way).

I'll give you an example. The 2080ti is generally regarded as being 30% faster than the 2080 at 4k resolution (up to date source > https://www.techpowerup.com/review/asus-radeon-rx-5700-xt-tuf-evo/28.html). If I were to make a post in a thread, claiming it was 40-45% faster, countless people would, rightfully, correct me. It would be childish of me to complain that people aren't allowed to correct me, or claim that someone's being aggressive, just because they call you out.

I'm having a great day so far, hope yours is too buddy :)

I'm glad you both ended up with smiley faces and wishing one another a good day, because I don't think either of you was looking to have an argument, just a discussion. It's far easier to get someone's point when you can hear the tone of their voice, it's often not easy to get that across in text.

Back on topic, OP I'd wait. There are so many rumours around now regarding performance of any new cards. And both manufacturers will be wanting to give a decent uplift. It's the worst time to be upgrading a graphics card, patience and perhaps a little tweaking are the best idea until then.

Definitely good advice to wait but the latest rumour in the Big Navi thread is that reference cards will be released in November and custom cards in the New Year. Frustrating if true.
