Is AMD Gaming Evolved bad or is my r290 tri-x bad?

Hi to all, I'm new here.

I have this app, and I was wondering how optimization for games works?
For example, in my case when i push Optimize button for Crysis 3 it puts all settings to Very High, Anisotorpic Filtering: 16x, Antialiasing: SMAA High (4X), Resolution 1920x1200.

After that, game is unplayable, on some maps, I get like 16fps.

And for many other games, when everything is on ultra I have lot of shuttering during gameplay and I need to lower antialiasing, turn off sync and etc...

I have following specs:
i5 4670K at 4,2GHZ
16gb corsair1866
Gigabyte G1 Sniper Z87 (bios updated)
Corsair 850w PSU
Sapphire r290 tri-x
1920x1200 monitor
Windows 8.1 64-bit
Driver Packaging Version: 14.501.1003-141120a-178000C (newest)

With Heaven benchmark 4.0 i get score of 1312
With 3d mark for example on Fire Strike I get:
Score:8236
Graphics score: 11204
Physics: 5709
Combined score: 3547

Can anyone please write down or share their scores with similar configuration?
So i can compare it with mine.

So I was wondering, where is the problem? Is my r290 tri-x fault or optimization doesn't work so well?

I'm really getting suspicious and confused, so I also post similar question on anadtech forum too, here's link:

Sorry for reposting topic on this forum too, but i really want to be sure, and I think it is good to hear opinions form people on different forums.
Maybe this can help someone too, with similar dilemmas.

Thanks in advance!

Its the program partially,Gaming evolved and geforce's experience are in my experience are awful pieces of software.

When it "optimizes my games" it usually ends up picking 720p and low presets 9 times out of 10.

Its picked settings for Crysis3 that will murder the framerate on any single GPU configuration.

However your physics score for Firestrike is far lower than it should be. At 4.2GHz you should have at least over 8000 not only 5709.

It seems your CPU is doing other heavy load tasks. What other applications do you have running when gaming/benching?

I'm not having any other heavy load tasks. I've checked and re-run the test, only physics and i get 5744, i checked details and my CPU temp is 98°-100°C :/ I have Corsair h80i cpu cooler

you will need to check if the pump is plugged in and working then, and that its fitted properly

you shouldnt be getting them temps on any cooler :(

The cpu temp is your problem. It's probably throttling back the clocks due to those temps. They can run up to 105 oc before shutting down but i would think before it gets there it would start throttling back for safety. With that Cpu cooler you should not be anywhere near that. I would be checking that the fan on the pump is spinning or if it's seated properly on your cpu.

Your Heaven score is fine as i get 1417 with my slight overclock and this is not really a cpu intensive bench.

Now my temp is around 57° no heavy tasks, just browser and chat app.
Thanks for helping guys.
I will check cooling and pump tomorrow, and i will let you know.

No probs, don't run anything until you get that sorted. You should be fine just browsing like this but no intensive programs.

put ur finger on it or some other body part to see if its vibrating :o
maybe check what voltages at too, not with body parts ><

Hmm i made a quick check, one tube is warm the other is cool, but i can't feel the pump. I feel small amount of vibration i think that's cuz of fans and not the pump. What' the intensity of vibration?

And it's definitely a temp problem. I re run physics test with fans on max performance and opened case, and I got 6516! My temp where 92-100°C

As I said I'll make further test tomorrow after work, and i will let you know.

Thanks.

its gentle not like a hitachi or anything lol
ye it really shouldnt be that high
something is wrong
4.2 isnt a huge overclock, even stock coolers can do that

I' ve tried this so far: re-moved h80i and placed it again, unplugged pump usb and plug it to another usb port on MB, re-install corsair link. Nothing, temperatures are still high.

Today i will try to re-install windows, fresh install of all drivers, maybe problem will go away.

If that doesn't help i will put stock intel cpu cooler, and if temps are normal, then I know problem is in h80i and i will return it, i still have warranty.

a re install of the OS will help as this will not have anything to do with the temps.

i would remove the cooler and re seat it with new paste, make sure that you don't tighten the cooler down too much.

can you hear the pump working away at all?

Nope, I can't hear pump at all, I thought maybe it should work so silent...
I just hear fans.
I also have no clue at what intensity should pump work, how loud does it sounds, and amount of vibration it should have. I think i only hear fans and they produce littlebit of vibration which i feel when i touch the tubes...

I'll reinstall OS just to make sure that drivers did not screw up...

make sure your pumps power is coming directly from the psu and not from the motherboard.
