Hello all.

I currently have a Sound Blaster Live! sound card, but I was thinking of purchasing an X-Fi extreme music edition, since this SB Live is rather outdated now.For example, when I'm on vent, my sound card broadcasts a noise on vent(and ts) thats ear piercing! It makes my friends on vent want to kill me! :p My friend has the same exact card, and the same EXACT thing happens to him. So my final question: Is upgrading to X-Fi worth it? Will I see a noticable sound difference?

Edit: My current headset is an Icemat SIberia.

please for the love of god and all things holy use the search button theres been at least 5 threads on this in the last week ;)

Yes if you use PC speakers. Yes if you use Hi-Fi (although the sound enhancing features are designed for PC speakers)

So if I don't use speakers, then the X-FI isnt worth it?

By not using speakers I assume you mean headphones? In that case the X-Fi has some decent features which enhances game sound to appear like surround sound using headphones.

NO NO NO. If anything it is IDEAL for headphones. It is loaded with features, such as the one Phil describes.

It rocks with earphones the surround sound bit actually works. Especially good in CS or any other games where sound is usefull, like raven shield.

Yup, I only use my X-Fi with headphones and it's awesome - much better than the SB Live I upgraded from.

Wow, I feel like I've typed that about 500 times this week alone :p

The reviews I've read said the better quality your speakers, the more you will notice the improvement in sound from an X-Fi.

I'd say go for the X-Fi - the CMSS headphone thing is pretty damn good for giving you virtual surround sound. Overall sound quality is really really good as well.
