Is anybody going to move wp8 when its released

Indeed! The lack of apps is the biggest killer and windows has come too late to the phone market, so it hasn't really "planted" itself like android and iphones. It could take of especially when we see amazing phones like Samsung's offering, but I can't help but feel that it will still get left behind just like windows 7 as there is just sooooo many android phones to choose from and then as you said the iphone is the iphone :p IIRC there was an article saying that even Samsung's bada phones over took windows 7 phones, which isn't a good sign! :o

And yup, the average joes couldn't care less about the customization, but even without the customization android is still superb, friends and family who have used my android phones (stock and not much done to them) have always been very impressed with the way the phone works and loved just the basic simple things of android, biggest thing they liked was homescreens and the widgets, especially sense on one S, they loved the way all the required info was just shown right on the homescreen/lockscreen without having to open apps etc. and the way it was presented.

People are happier when they don't have a choice. People read about flashing roms on android and reading about what things it improves and think it there was a problem with the original firmware when in a lot of cases the stock runs peachy. When they hav'nt got that choice such as ios and wp7 then they just accept any problem that is in the os or the way the os is intended to work and wait for it to be be fixed or added as a feature later on.

My Dad loves the widgets system in Andorid, and all his brothers (iOS) users are always amazed at how simple it is and the amount of info you can get at a glance. WP SS is nice, and it displays a lot of infromation, but overall it is too clustered and I like the idea of android that I can ahve 3 screen which less information on each one, it looks cleaner and my 'main' homescreen has the things I want right away without and distractions as such.

Is it? I don't think the mainstream will be bothered by this. As long as it has the basic ones most people will be happy.

People know Windows ( and Nokia ) as a brand and there will be phones at all the price points, unlike iOS, so I think it could do very well indeed.
 
I'm pretty sure I will be, I currently have a Bold 9900, which I like a lot, and works really well (bar low signal problems grr). The thing is, I want a bit more than 'just a phone' which in the day and age is all a BB is, I want to be able to mess about and have decent apps and a nicer web browsing experience.

I don't like android particularly, had a Desire HD, and while it was pretty good, it did take a bit of messing with, I understand newer android phones are better, but I'd still rather have a bit more solid platform, I've had a look at iOS devices, sure, they work perfectly and have loads of apps, but it's all a bit clinical, basically you get a few pages with all your apps, the actually OS doesn't seem to do a lot!
 
I'll be moving across from WP7.5 to WP8 once Nokia release there new handsets. I will also move over to Surface from my iPad once they have a SkyGo app, as that's pretty much the only one I use.
 
If you get video results like in that teaser, or somehow mange to already bring a PureView ( even a smaller version of it) into the Nokia WP8 handsets, hopefully wishing with their RichRecording, yea....yea ill be getting one.

I think apps are the most improtant thing, if your friend has the latest hit game and you cant get it your wont be happy, after all what we do most of the time is use apps on smartphones. I also believe that right now Nokia doesnt have a great name too it, I remeber a few years back when it was if you want a good phone get a Nokia, that was it, but they have lost that. Also windows isnt that best brand out there, many people just view it as something they "have" to use, and there is a big chunk of poeple that hate it but just cant afford to use OSX or have the time or brains to set up linux.
 
WP has all the top games, so that isn't an issue. They have a pretty decent back catalogue with wp7 apps and there's going to be a huge number added on release day.all the top apps will of mad or making WP apps.
As we can clearly see by who have allready released apps.

Very true!

I will root and flash custom ROM's/tweaks on my S at some point, however, it won't be for any performance, battery life improvements or fixes as everything works flawlessly on the S already, just like stock GS 2, stock GS 3, stock GN etc.

Likewise, widgets/homescreens is one of the biggest reasons why I won't leave android any time soon, you summed it up perfectly there.

Been using WP7 for over a year now, I like the phone indeed but app scene is still a little quiet but then again I mostly just use the basic phone functions anyway. Still hope WP8 will kickstart some development on that front although my phone will not be upgraded and renewal not due till next summer.
 
Same way I don't consider moving over to the iOS scene is the reason why I won't also consider WP8.

After using Android and the goodyness that open source offers, going back to a closed platform feels like taking a step backwards..

Plus Android has gotten to a point where with Jelly Bean and to some degree Ice Cream Sandwich, It's a superior experience compared to the opposition.

Android has come a long way from Froyo & Gingerbread, competition is nice though!
 
No, I honestly just don't enjoy using wp7 compared to iOS and Android. MS Make some fine products, their mobile OS for me is not one of them.
 
If it does proper push notifications, and updates like android does, then i might, i HATE the fact wp7 wont check every 15mins unless i force it to, i also HATE the fact wifi never stays on.

Blaming battery life is crap, as all my android phones would do it no problem, yet wp7 cant, its a joke.
 
Kept my S2 when my recent contract expired and have changed to a sim only.

Waiting now to see what the new wp8 phones are like.

Have always had nokia phones in the past so hoping their new ones are worth changing too.

Wp7 is totaly different to wp8, other than the UI they are totally different.

In windows 8 on. Lock page you. Get notifications, in a preview of w8 mock up you have the same icons on the lock screen. So they should be there, which means push notification must be in there.

Mail and callander are default but as. Far as I can tell you should be able to do anything that supports the features.
