Is anybody going to move wp8 when its released

I won't be. At least not for the next 1-2 years.

Firstly Windows Phone 7. I really like it but the WHOLE experience (meaning everything from the UI to available apps etc.) isn't up to scratch compared to the competition. So I've already switched to a cheap (but surprisingly good) Android phone (Huawei Ascend G300) since WP7 is dead. Despite it getting the new Start Screen, which will make the UI of both WP7.8 & WP8 near perfect IMO, the lack of app compatibility going forward means it's dead. WP8 succeeds and nobody will bother with apps for WP7. WP8 does poorly and nobody will bother with apps for either. It's lose lose for WP7 despite what way MS/Nokia want to spin it. So (slightly grudgingly since I really do like the UI/UX) I've left that behind and won't look back.

As for Windows Phone 8 I hope it succeeds. REALLY do. I hope it sells, I hope app developers get on board and that Microsoft have brought the OS functionality wise* to the front of the pack. I hope Nokia go back to the N95 days of providing hardware that you go "wow" to at every point in the spec sheet (and not just one like the 808 PureView). But I owe Microsoft and Nokia nothing. So once they deliver I will happily go back. And yes I do understand that they need people buying their phones to get app developers. But they need app developers to get people buying their phones. Cruel world.

*As examples:

SkyDrive will upload FULL quality photos & video (with ability to select 3G & WiFi or WiFi only)

The ability to choose different services (like Dropbox over SkyDrive) and allow them to integrate into the system well enough. In the case of Dropbox auto-uploading in the background. I don't mind MS pushing their own things so long as I can have an out if I so decide.

User accessible filesystem to the point of being able to see "Documents", Pictures, Movies and Music. It doesn't have to as deep as Android but that available over Mass Storage is a must IMO. I don't want to be utterly dependent on some sync software to get things off or onto the phone. Like Apple forces you to do.

Notifications that were designed by someone who doesn't want to have their phone buzz/beep and be left wondering exactly what caused it.

Media volume independent of ringer volume. I think this annoys everyone :p

Really intrigued by W8, so hope it performs well, tried a few W7 phones, must say impressed with them.

Upgrades due soon too, so its a W8 phone, or the Blackberry London (if that comes in the timeframe I'm hoping for).

LOL, wonder if there's a thread in here about the London?

I'm changing my answer in the second post from "iunno" to "hell yes". I just bought a lumia 710 as a temporary phone and am hugely impressed with it. It flies on WP7 and its a measly single core with 512mb of ram, real credit to how slick they have made WP. All my regularly most used apps are there and great (in a couple of cases much better) alternatives for a few that weren't.

Any minor bugbears with it are reportedly being dealt with in WP8, so come January I will 100% be rocking a Windows 8 phone *cough*Lumia 920*cough*

The keyboard is a bit pants though, purely from a typing perspective, but a much bigger screen will sort that out. Id be surprised if they didn't overhaul it completely though. Although I have no idea whether this is a Nokia keyboard or a Windows one...

I'll be jumping over ASAP, tablet on release day and phone as soon as I can afford it.

Apps are an issue, but with the budget of ms and the simplicity as well as millions of instant install bases. I think apps will grow fast.
One of my Essential apps is allready on the marketplace :). I expect a hole host of new apps to be released on launch and off course w7p apps work as well.

yip ms budget could trumuph anyone , but having windows 8 on laptop and phone makes sence , and surface pro lol

why say windows phone 7 is dead? how long do you keep a handset? there is nothing wrong with windows phone 7.5 and with 7.8 it will be better/1 yes windows 8 will be better again , but there are people who cant shell out for a £500 sim free , so for them win 7.8 will be great.
Windows phone runs amazing on a single core phone much better than ios or android, so windows 8 WILL be superb ;) any crap r
or typos excuse wine vodka and very little mixers tonight

Firstly I doubt wp8 would be as smooth on current hardware. And the reason its dead is mostly that from know on there really wont be any focus from devs, it will mostly go to wp8, and wp8 apps wont work on wp7. The biggest issue right now for the platform is apps, which no doubt will be fixed if they start to market right and so on but I dont see many apps coming to wp7.

Think it's just too late

I'm kinda stuck with android, bought apps etc. As I guess many are with iOS. There's notreally much of a gap to ffill. You have 2 OSs which appeal to two separate crowds and I fail to see a big enough gap for another. Possibly the only benefit windows might have is perfect integration with its desktop operating system.. Which most people have but it would still need the apps.

I wouldn't switch from android anyway, only would I consider it is If windows had a better link with my desktop pc. Like on the fly folder linking. Download a song on pc.. And it appears on phone etc. Think the only real possible gap is cheaper than iOS and simpler than android, but ics is filling that hole as we speak

I don't think it is dead, more just the beginning because I think W8 and office 2013 will drive a lot of wp8 sales for the cloud and os integration. 2 weeks ago wp8 wasn't on the radar for me, but after trying wp8 and Office 2013 it has changed to a must have.
Add in the shared kernel and I thinks more devs will climb aboard.

For sure. Currently have a Lumia 710 and it's perfect for me. Got the wife a Galaxy S2 a few months ago and had phone envy for about a week which disappeared pretty quickly after using it a few times.

Only missing things are some apps for me such as Betfair, Tesco, Natwest.

Tempted but probably gonna go back to ios. Shopping for a new phone atm and it seems to be a 3 horse race between gs3, 920 and iphone 5. It'll probably be ios due to software support. If WP8 got sky go and a decent forums app I'd probably get that.

I'm very tempted. I'm not a big app user, main thing I need is a web browser which obviously all the phones have :p

Not going to make a full decision though until all the manufacturers have shown their cards over next month or so.

Upgrade is over-due for me, I got my Omnia7 in October 2010 very happy with the OS, and have been waiting for WP8 :)
Samsung Ativ-S looks like the winner for me. Just waiting for Orange to confirm a UK launch date.. If not, looks like I will have to jump ship to another provider :D

Gone from iOS to Android, nxt its WP8. I like change and to try new stuff. Probably go for the Lumia 920 as the Activ S just looks too similar to my current SGS2.
