Is anything really wrong with the Intel stock cooler?

I'm building a new seperate gaming rig and using my E660 at stock for my "business" machine, I'm running it on full power saving with nothing overclocked and BIOS at default settings.

Is there a perceived problem with using the stock HSF as against one of the more massive 3rd party HSF's?

I used the cooler supplied with my quad core for about two weeks and found it to be sufficent for normal use, however if you want a cooler processor then the only option is an aftermarket one.

Best thing to do is try out the stock cooler and see if your happy with the temp/noise and if not look to purchase an alternative.

Nothing wrong with it, just that theres quieter solutions that can cool a lot better than the stock cooler, however at stock speeds and volts its not so bad but a good 3rd party cooler can cool it almost passively.

The stock cooler is pretty damn good. I have overclocked my e2140 1.6ghz to 3.2ghz (100% OC) at 1.3V and the load temps are around 70C. I think this is reasonable.

Thanks guys. I'm now convinced that I dont need to try and fit my spare TT into a smallish case, the stock cooler is what I'll use.

No need to replace it unless you want to overclock (saying that it will cope with a mild overclock) :)
