Is ASIC quality reliable ?

Recieved my 7950 Gb wf3 today and before i began looking at overclocking i was curious about the ASIC quality. It was 58 %. Is the figure reliable in determining how good of a clocker the card is ? so far I have 1200core and 1575 mem ( as high as afterburner allows ) on 1.1v. Is that any good ?

i'd say thats pretty good. as a comparison, my vapor-x is 66% and i cant get much higher than 1200/1500 even with 1.3/1.6v

Hey I have the same card as you and I am finding 1150/1500 stable. Although once in 3D Mark 13 I saw some artifacts for a second or two although I have been unable to reproduce this in subsequent tests so have left it at 1500.

knowing my luck i probably got the worst card of the batch, but anything above 1350mem causes artifacts in 3dmark.

Really I noticed you have 1150/1400 in your sig are you not running it at that speed anymore?

With mine at 1150/1500 I only ever saw artifacts in 3D Mark 13 once and have not been able to reproduce it in 3D Mark 13 or in any other benchmarks or BF3.

I have mine set to 1.137 in triXX and have not touched the memory voltage.

I'm thinking the ASIC is highly innacurate, especially after reading members compare figures and clocks on various forums.

1150/1550 on HIS HD7950 FAN (reference and no volt adjustments) and only scoring 64.2% on ASIC. mmmmmm

im at 1000/1250 now. i haven't got round to updating the sig yet though.

i used AB, but ill see what trixx is like.

Ah that sucks! get version 4.4b of triXX which allows core voltage increases (but not mem)

For me 1150/1500 seems stable and I know any instabilities will be caused by the memory setting which is OK because the core has the most influence on performance anyway.

As I say so far had no reason to reduce from 1150/1500 back down to 1150/1400 apart from that one split second artifact I saw once in 3D Mark 13 during the Cloud Gate demo.

ASIC quality only seems to give a general indication as to whether the core responds best to voltage or temperature when overclocking and not much more. (Even then you'd have had to play with a few cards with varying qualities to get a feel for what its telling you anyhow).

Did the trick , looks like I'm going to be spending tomorrow finding stable clocks :P but i think in the end 24/7 clocks of 1200/1575 are brilliant , with good temps and low noise. I'm one of the fortunate ones :D

@nlel Us humans we always want more :)

Yup and I am happy with 1150/1500 because 1200 core crashes in Heaven and 3D Mark as does 1600 mem after an hour or so of BF3.

I have the core set to 1.137 and haven't touched the mem voltage yet.
