Hello, iv'e got myself an X1800XT 512mb Powercolour card (not crossfire edition).
I fancied a go at overclocking with the 'overdrive' option on the 6.3 drivers.

The temp on my card was reading 80 degrees and the test wasn't even half way through!

Is this likely to cause damage to my new card?

btw it has the stock cooler.

The temp rising like that is normal. When testing my X1900XT it hit a tad over 90C and it been running fine in me pc at the max allowabble overclock (using CCC) for weeks now.
I'm still gonna get a zalman VF900 though, for better cooling and silence.

Identical to my sapphire XT clocks. I run it at 670/780 though. :)

exactly the same as what im running at. ive not tried going higher but im sure it will. i have the powercolor X1800XT 256mb version

Flash it to a PE and it unlocks ccc so you can overclock it how much you want. Also makes default clocks 700/800. I get 10k at stock in 3Dmsrk 05 now.

hmmm for some reason, ati ccc doesnt load now, no matter how many times i press it, it simply wont come on ! whats happening here then
Hoist this man up, he killed the CCC :D :p - you will go down in history!

Just reinstall it, it may have become corrupt.

WHhhaaaaaa :D if only ATI Tool would work properly, then I could use that to overclock! at moment this is only program that seems to do it, found out problem, was zonealarm taking away its rights so it wouldnt run

Hey jack, now that you have flashed your card, what does it say in terms of clocks under the Overdrive tab? Have the sliders changed in value etc? I'm thinking about it - I have a PCI card if it goes wrong.
