i want to overclock my 1900xtx (my 2nd one after my first one borked) but i'm slightly nervous about overclocking it. This is mainly because the first one basically broke very soon after installing and trying out ati tool. I don't think i overclocked very high, i may have ran the auto overclock for a few minutes or something. I think it was only a day or two later that the card failed.

Is it just a co-incidence? I'm on water cooling and have a 120mm fan blowing on the memory. Temps seem fine (although is there a way to measure mem temps??)

thanks

Whatever you do don't set it to auto-overclock and just walk off and leave it...I think I've read of 2 borked cards on these forums alone recently where the cards have been nuked by it.

I'd say ATItool is as safe or unsafe as any overclocking tool, you are inherantly running a graphics card outside its specifications by overclocking therefore it is more likely to cause problems. If you didn't leave it overclocked then I would think it likely that you were just unfortunate and it was merely coincidence that you had installed ATItool previously.

You could always try Rivatuner or Powerstrip if you aren't comfortable with ATItool though, either should do the same job :)
