Hi I use a Q6600 and have had it at 3ghz for a while now on "auto-detect" for the cpu voltage. Is this ok?
I ask because I've had a number of malfunctions in the main game I play. They said one of the reasons could be too low/high cpu voltage if overclocking.

Check you BIOS or download EVEREST, or another monitoring software, and check what voltage it is getting.

Also, download a program called "Coretemp" and post your VID here.

Also, what sort of malfunctions are you getting?

Auto voltages are not good for overcloking mate. They usually give too much to your setup.

Did you do any stability testing after doing the overclock, I think some boards over-volt.
Is it one particular game your having problems with.

Another thing is to check is memory voltage and timmings.

Interesting thanks, I will look more into this and test out stability.
The malfunctions happen in WoW (of all games). It's pretty/very cpu intensive that game. It gives me critical errors when I'm in locations with a lot of scenery. I had all graphic options at max since I thought my rig could handle it. HD4850, 4gb ddr2 8000, corsair TX650W, Abit IP35 pro xe

What do you mean by critical errors?

Do the errors only happen in WoW? If so, then can I suggest that it is a problem with that game, and not your overclock. As previous poster said, have you tested for stability?

If you get blue screens or random restarting, then your overclock is unstable.

Yeah you should always stress your system above what you are normally going to use it for. Download Prime95 and run a stress test for a few hours at least, will not only give you the max temps that your cpu will reach, but you can be pretty sure that if your pc stays stable during that, then it will stay stable with anything.
