Is buying a 3.4ghz Extreme edtion SKT 478 worth it

Aye, I have never been able to understand why my 2k1 score is so low....my 2k5 comes in at about right for 7600GT...

3DMark01 is more CPU dependant where as '05 is more graphics card dependant. Your CPU isn't as good as you thought, in other words.

yeah and doesnt 01 favour ATI, i remember all the ati cards doing far better than Nvidia for some reason.. (i could be wrong i usually are :p)

Not quite. The bru-haha really started with 3dMark2k3.

It's simply a case of CPU horsepower. A 3.2E Preshot isn't going to be pushing many models around the screen, whereas a 3.2EE would do so at a very rapid rate.
 
I wouldn't worry about it Mitch, from some of the reviews I've read comparing the 3.2 extreme edition and the 3.2e Prescott there wasn't much difference in most games, and the Prescott actually beat it in the video processing benchmarks.
 
ok cheers....

I got the chip just to give my old system some life before a full system upgrade next year, kids can use my current rig after that...as long as i don't blow it up in the mean time...

so i should not be bothered with 2mb cache upgrade either....
