Is Coolermaster V8 OC Friendly?

thats proven to be incorrect mate, the pressure of HS is realative to the amount of the blob. smearing takes that factor out and only leaves how much to apply. Not saying it makes massive diff was just saying your comment was incorrect (in non offensive way) :D

That's why you only put a small blob the size of a grain of rice in the centre..

Any effort of smearing and credit card combing is wasted imo it'll just increase the chance of contaminating the surface.

okay don't know how to post any screen shots but been running prime95 in small fft and temps seem to be maxed at 75 at all cores, never reaching 80 in any core and that is at 3.45GHz vcore 1.875 core 1 22x, the rest 21x 165.1. ram at 660. any sugestions? I would like to get a higher ram speed if possible and would help my overall performance. on stock this thing was at 22c, at half load.

I can easily get 3.8 stable, however temps will get into lower 80's in prime95 but when playing a game like gta iv, temps never hit 70 at 3.8.

and for the record, I used smear a lil amount, and then put not quite a grain in the center so the best of both worlds huh?

Okay I lowered my vcore to 1.18 and now am at 3.77ghz never hitting 80 in prime95, and idling right now at overall 36c. which is bout 50c per core. I think I am satisfied with that though I would like to increase my ram speed.

Sounds like it a nice cooler for 3.6-3.8 then whats the rest of your cooling like case, fans, room temp if you dont mind :D

Apevia x-cruiser thermally advantaged quiet case with 120mm scrolling led fan on back for exhaust, then one top exhaust, and two front intakes. I had a funnel that I obviously cant use now, nor can a use a side fan, but with the design of this cooler I don't think it would be a good idea to use one. I just put a dust filter in it's place. Room temp is around 75-80, depending on how many people are all trying to fit in there (lol). To be honest the case fans don't move much i think like 20cfm and the back led exhaust fan was bought more for looks though it does move decent air, however my nzxt 600w psu moves the most air. That psu has really impressed me and does a great job at expelling hot air.

I actually dont mind the color of Noctua fans, they stand out against the other fans in your case. Even if you have a window in your case people will look inside and reconise them straight away as a quaitly product.

If Noctua fans where the same color as the rest of them, they wouldnt stand out at all. Much like a lot of other decent fans.

I hear that the V10 version is best cooler yet(thats with a small mod)
do a google for coolermaster V10 mod.

Correct way to apply thermal paste to a multi core CPU is a thin line that goes from left to right in the middle of the text.

Theres a test somewhere published by Arctic Cooling, tho I can't find it atm. According to them a blob was the worst way to do it.
