is cpu socket frame removable?

k just bought upgrade, including an ASRock 939A8X-M and a zalman 7000b cu. basically the mobo has a big frame round the cpu socket which i think can b taken off (will try to get a photo up). has any1 else had this problem? all i want to kno is wots the best way to take it off

Squeeze the 4 pins from the underside of the motherboard while gently pulling.

You mean the CPU retention bracket? Yes, it is removeable. Mine was 2 push pin type thingys

and the back plate is stuck on with some sort of strong sticky pad, that levers off too.

be very carefull, u dont want to knock anything from the board. as ns400r said, pull gently

Warm it with a hairdryer (softens the glue) and then carefully work it free.

I used the Hairdryer/credit card combo.
