Is data rate supposed to be my internet speed?

I have been having speed issues all weekend and checked the connection info on my router and it has the following
Code:
Item Downstream Upstream Unit

SNR Margin 12 6 dB

Line Attenuation 32 31 dB

Data Rate 320 384 kbps

the data rate seems really low if it is supposed to be my internet speed, any ideas why it would be so low?

No, your IP profile will be lower.

Have you been disconnecting a lot lately? That would explain the low sync rate despite your line stats.

Your downstream SNR margin looks a tad high as well...

I used an older router to see if the current was a problem so i intentionally disconnect a few times, im not sure if the router has disconnect by itself

You shouldn't really have done that because BT\the ISP will have lowered your sync speed thinking your line can't handle it. I suggest you contact your ISP and ask them about it, because it shouldn't be that low...

Your SNR margin isn't that high, and your attenuation looks wrong - the upstream should be much lower than the downstream.
What did it connect at before? Are you connected to the master socket, with no extensions?

well i used to download from 200-300kB/s i recently moved the router from upstairs to downstairs im not sure which is master socket

I unplug my wireless router every night. Is this bad?

on the bt speedtester i get this

IP profile for your line is - 250 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 6080 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 212 kbps

can anyone tell me what this means

It means you need to wait for it to increase past 250kbps, because that's the fastest you'll be able to download at.
It dropped to 250kbps because you were connected at ~300kbps. Now BTw think you're connected at 6080kbps.
