Is delidding a 4790k now a necessity?

Liquid metal is not stable it will evaporate (yikes) and it attacks metals it'll literally eat it away it some are more resistant than others but its not something I'd use myself
I don’t know about that. I’ve had Liquid Metal under the IHS of my 4790 running 24/7 for at least 6 years now without any issues or changes in temperature.
It was the CoolLaboratory Liquid Metal Pro.

Deffo not good for long term use. If going for world record clocks then yea.
Anyone used conventional paste under the ihs like mx4 etc? How does it fair to stock intel paste?

Regular paste is good at first but suffers from pump out effect so usually within a month or two you need to reapply.

Liquid metal is ok to use for long periods, I think it's the PS5 that currently uses liquid metal so certain they know it's good for years of use.

Which paste are you using that pumps out in months? Iv got systems pasted with mx3 over 10 years ago and still going with no temp issues. Even have systems with mx4 coming up to 7 years and no temp issues. Best thing about these thermal pastes is their long term stability and reliability. Once pasted a system iv built hasnt had to be repasted unless it done a cpu or cooler swap.
Each to their own i guess. Im too old and too poor to be changing paste on a monthly basis where some are happy to do it weekly or daily.
