Is Everything Out of Stock?

With the lack of physical things to buy with disposable income, I can see online services like Netflix ramping up in price to hoover up some of that money. Another example being new console games having an RRP of £70.

Same with bikes. Crazy.

I bought my bike months ago. I had to resort to using a German company. I remember looking on Friday and deciding if I wanted to get it. Plenty in stock across 2 or 3 retailers . On Sunday night there were 3 left at one German retailer

Ordered it. Next day there were none. The shipping delay was crazy. I was told if you don't get it now, that's it for 2020.

There's less people at work making the stuff you want to buy due to shutdowns, I imagine this is what a UBI would look like rather than the plentiful utopia people imagine it to be. People would probably be more worried about getting a loaf of bread and toilet paper than a PS5 or 3080 though.
Hasn't happened in any of the UBI trials thus far

Definitely a worldwide shortage of high end electronics and specialist manufactured goods which is no doubt COVID related. I ordered a TV unit from Oak Furniture Land last week and the earliest they can deliver is the 14 February 2021... of course they took the money straight away!
I work for an electronics manufacturing company and we've worked through the pandemic including lock downs and have been running as normal for the most part. There have been a few part supply issues but nothing that has stopped production.

I work in packaging and there's major supply issues with cardboard (and therefore the cardboard boxes they come in) at the moment which I am sure isn't helping.

I think because people are in lockdown and shops are shut they are going mad on Amazon and other places with Christmas orders. Think how many boxes Amazon are using at the moment.

I agree. With pubs and restaurants being shut people are spending their money on different things like home improvements and hobbies.

IIRC where my brother in law works (packing for packaging) they were doing near Christmas levels of work earlier in the year due to the demand for protective fillings.

Seriously considering dropping £160 for a case on rainforest just because it has 6 pre-installed Lian-Li UNI SL120 fans
That's only £22 more than the fans would cost alone, plus with free shipping it's more like £10 for something that's otherwise out of stock everywhere

Scrap that, the fans are cheap knock offs

Interesting - I recently ordered a CPU cooler and it arrived in its own box, no external packaging

I bought 2 no issues in the peak of the first lockdown that was only 6-7 months ago.

A canyon hybrid and a Merida cyclo-cross.

Only took 2-3 weeks to arrive.

Stocks depleted now but 9 months ago was February before Covid was even a thing here.

Must depend heavily on the line you choose/your timing. Canyon were quoting me 4+ months for one of their gravel bikes during the peak of lockdown.

The bike I went with eventually came with the wrong shifters and it took 2.5 months to source a replacement from Cannondale!

Got told by the bike shop today that my date is now the 17th. And that new bikes are still a problem, case in point is the one I've ordered - there are only 30 bikes from the manufacturer (GT) being imported into the country this side of new year and one is mine. Apparently they've arrived and are currently sat at the docks awaiting delivery to the various bike shops around the country. Back before all this **** started and things were 'normal' there could be hundreds per month being shipped in.

yeah it's nuts, i phoned my dealer and he was all out of crack, ganj and coke, ended up having to make a blunt out of PG tips that i liberated from a pyramid bag. What the hell is the world coming to....................................
