Got an evo33 at the mo and thinking of upgrading either to an fx57 or fx60, will this cooler be alright for either at stock and a bit of overclock on top?
If not what other ones would be ok? Looking at AK-873 as well.

I have a Evo 33 on my P4 3.00 Prescott 478 @ 3.15 (running tests). The Fan is loud on there, its being changed. It keeps my temps to 50C on low power settings on the fan, when running COD2 aswell as other tasks it increases to about 55-60C. So im sure it will be able to overclock to at least 3.30 maybe even 3.4 with the fan on full!

Im not sure what it will do with an AMD as i don't own one or have ever. Try looking on the AMD site and seeing what safe temps are then do some trials. It should support a desent overclock, just remeber to keep temps within range.

simple option if it's too noisy, buy a new fan? :P I use mine on the motherboard rather than through the controller as it was b0rked when I bought it (from new) it ran at a max of 900 RPM, and set my Fan warning buzzer off constantly.
Most people would consider it loud, but it's not too bad for me, considering I generally wear a headset most of the time at the computer anyhow.

Anyhow, cooling wise I'd say this is excellent, keep my o/c X2 3800 @ 2.6GHz to below 50 degrees full load :)

Only problem is the reason the fan is noisey is because it shifts a lot of air for its size. quieter ones wouldnt shift as much so wouldnt cool as well

True but if you buy a quieter fan you can then turn it up when going on a game etc and have it running at low rpm when watching a DVD or listening to music or when idle at night etc. I use a noise blocker S3 on mine and the lowest rpm is 1600rpm which is a lot quieter than the ambers 2000rpm, then it can be turned up to 3000rpm if it needs to be. I have never had to turn it up and leave it on low even on games, i have overclocked my 3200+ to 2.2 as well. There are definitely better coolers out there though, i think ill go for a zalman next time.

Thanks everybody for your thoughts, glad that the evo will be alright. I am running it at about 2400rpm which isnt too bad for the ears. Have been thinking about changing the fan for a noiseblocker s3. They look good pity that ocuk dont stock them

Yeah i am still looking knowing me I might get another one these are the 3 which I am looking at

Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro, Zalman CNPS9500-LED and Thermalright XP-120

zalman is ment to be quiet good, but not amazing as when it runs at high speed it get very loud, the xp-120 is pretty good with a quiet fan. so not really sure what would be the best in the end.

Made my mind up going to get this: ThermalRight SI-120. Just have to look into what fan to get. Want one which is going to be quiet but push in excess of 60 cfm

I dont think you'll find one to match your specifications then, if you want quiet your looking at 40CFM or around that, something like an Akasa Amber will be a good choice.

Get the freezer 64 they're very good and not a lot of money, better than the evo 33 or the t'take copy.

Im going to get the ThermalRight SI-120, just waiting for a new thermaltake 12cm fan to be released in the uk

keep your EVO 33 just put 2x 80mm regular fans on it in a push pull config and it will work fine, thats what i have done with my coolermaster hyper 6+ and it works fine even at low speeds with an OCed CPU whilst playing a game, CPU never goes over 45C but thats an AMD

you should have got 4 long screws with it that are just long enough to go through the cooler and the fan just use 2 of the screws on each of the fans which attach to both sides as there is holes on both sides

You only get one set of screws as well, you could attach it with zip ties of them rubber fan mounts, thats what i was going to as one of the screws is spinning :( . If i was you id get freezer 64 a lot of people have recommended it so it must be good, the ThermalRight SI-120 plus a decent fan is going to be expensive.

EDIT I mean a lot of people recommend the Freezer in "what CPU cooler?" threads
