Is Free range Eggs better for you?

I go next door :)

The family has several thousand barn hens (not battery) they each have plenty of space to move around in and are looked after well, strangely hens do have a habit of bunching together very tightly despite having lots of room
Getting double yoked eggs is always nice too

The eggs are certainly more colourful, larger and taste much better than the tiny ones from supermarkets

I worked on a battery farm when I was at college. Urgh :( Definately not nice for the chickens, they're kept in pretty bad conditions.

I always buy free range for the sake of the chickens.

However, free range eggs taste a LOT better.

The better you treat the hens and the better their source of food then the better the eggs taste: FACT

We have our own hens at home and when they're laying it's like no egg you've ever tasted - completely different to even premium eggs bought in the supermarket.

That's what i got i think, i only got them because they are on offer at the moment with like 30p off.

Yum yum! I only buy them every now and again but they're the best I've tasted.

Without pretending to be a bird expert, I think that 2,500 birds per hectare is a pretty dense number of birds - of course Free Range chickens are in better conditions than battery hens, but the idea of the odd bird or two wandering around in a big field doesn't happen anywhere, they're still conditions you wouldn't exactly want to live in yourself.

Eggs are one of those things that I can eat any variant of and still enjoy as no matter what they look like internally the flavour always seems consistent to me, unlike cornflakes, coffee & beans:)

definately free range form me,

however recently ive noticed certain eggs i have when boiled taste like the smell you get from a party popper

could it be a problem with the stove? I buy free range too - but Raymond Lin, what supermarket did you get those funky coloured uber eggs from? Looks like tesco?

The economy eggs have really thin shells and insipidly thin whites. The best I've found are the rather pricy Cotswold Legbar (or something) that come in weird pastel coloured shells and have really rich yolks. Delicious. Usually though, I'll just get barn eggs as a happy medium.
blue colour yum, yum, nice eggs, cant find them at tescos anymore.

not really sure, the yoke is fine its mainly the first bit of white at the top. Its must just be that specific brand, because the ones i had this morning were fine :) .

They are from Tesco. :) 99p for 6 at the moment. Cheaper than most other free range eggs hence i bought them. I got them online.

Definatly free range extra large eggs for the "double yolker" potential...

I haven't had one for years tho :(

had them a few times from the guy down the road, not recently, but quite often last year

You should never buy value eggs...

I dont care about the taste or the colour of the yolk, just the fact that value eggs are probably squeezed out of the chickens by some sort of pain machine in a factory somewhere....

nice to see PETA got to this guy in time.............
