Is FSB/cache important

That's ok.

Have a look around for the Gigabyte P35-DS3. It's about the same price as the EVGA 650i and is much better. Tho OcUK don't sell it for some reason.

ok... but wanted to buy one from oc since i trust this site, used to shop at pcworld for my stuff but ther more expensive then this site + u get lots of choise and detailed spec listing on oc

If its worth my offering somehting here, but seriously mate... get this...

I got a P4 Prescott 660 3.6Ghz ok?
Using a Gigabyte DS3 I took it to a whopping 4.7Ghz... Due to heat, I backed it down to 4.3 and I ran it there for a short while.
Now, a week or so later, I got a C2D, slapped it in, and quite honestly, the P4 has hot been touched since... Not would I be wasting my time with it anymore!

To compare the P4 against the Core2Duo is a real waste of time.

Trust me on this, but the benefits of gettign yourself a new Core2Duo chip, even the lower end ones will start to show from day one.

As has already been pointed out... There is a million miles of difference between true dual core and Pretend "Hyperthreading - WTF?" junk.

ok so for running the latest games which C2d chip is the best choise with a £110 or less price limit just for cpu? (not inc other components)

as for mobo its gotta b Abit IP35-E after reading comments on it

E2180 or E6550.

Tho an E2180 and spending the extra £60 on a better card than the 8600GT would be the sensible solution.

It is.

If you were to buy the £55 E2180 what would your budget be for a graphics card?

so far i got:
Corsair VX 450W
Abit IP35-E
E2180
x1950
loaded in my basket totalling £252.52, id say that £250 is my budget so ill accept this, however id say the £300 is my absolute limit

That's a great basket for £250 :)

The X1950 Pro is the daddy in the under £100 price range.
