Is Game of Thrones worth watching?

Haha,
i said the exact same thing in another thread about Sansa, the red head, being crying for 2 seasons of television and how if characters need to move on from their grieve in about 2 episodes before the audience starts to stop caring for her and starting to resent her.

As for Robb stark getting killed, I was glad because partly of what you said, the guy is an idiot and also a waste of on screen time as all he did this year was playing battlefield chess in a tent and talking big and doing nothing. It's obvious he isn't going to amount to anything so best get rid of him sooner the better.
It started really well and was quite suspenseful, but I don't believe it is as well written as many people think. It's a show about cheap thrills and shock value.

I thought the Rob Stark situation was the only really deep interesting thing happening because it was echoing Ned Starks character (the best in the series) and I really saw potential in somehow bringing his legacy back together through his children. But the show just keeps abandoning it's decent plot threads for the sake of weaker plots and unpleasant characters.

I WANT to get behind Daenerys (in more ways than one :p) but she too often comes across as being a simple minded half-wit. They're trying to separate her from the 90% of evil characters in the series, but she herself is half psychotically-deranged and enjoys watching people burn. OK she has a thing for freeing slaves, great. But she's hell bent on mass murder and supreme control.

I just want a sane, rational character who I can get behind and somehow relate to. But to me the series is writen for, and by, a deranged sadomasochistic mental.

On how season 3 ended, the only conclusion I could possibly be happy about is if Arya goes away with that face-changing assassin, learns his trade and then comes back and slaughters everyone in the show :p That now remains the only possible outcome that I will enjoy.

I think the lack of battles makes them more epic when they happen, too much meaningless action kind of makes it less enjoyable, I think building up a reason for the fighting and more of a back story makes it more enjoyable.

For me Game of Thrones is the best thing I have seen on TV, it has overtakes Sopranos as my favorite.

Well back on track then!

Finished season 1. Can understand why so many people like this. There isn't really any action and is mostly just all talking. There was one bit where i was dying for a bit of sword play, but it just ended up with the guy being passed out and the next scene picked up and its all over, VERY disappointing.

It is addictive to watch though, and a few episodes did make me want to watch the next. Season 1 ending raised a few questions in my mind :o

The way i feel about this is, its good, but i am in no rush to get hold of season 2 or 3. It seems like a good series but in no way i could ever class it as "the" best series ever

I'll most likely get hold of season 2 next week as have nothing else to watch, but if i did, i would just leave it, as it hasn't grabbed me enough to "want" the next season badly.

Thought i'd update this.

I have now watched all 3 seasons and can safely say i am hooked :cool:

It is deffo worth watching, i am now eagerly awaiting the 4th season :)

PS The mother of dragons is hawt

I was under the impression there was loads of it in this. Am I wrongly informed?

Huffington post

While "Game of Thrones" offers up a multitude of feminist role models, it has often been criticized for its gratuitous sex scenes. Perhaps this is part of the reason Season 3 reduced the amount of sex and nudity, at least in frequency. Where the first and second seasons featured sex and/or nudity in 10 out of 10 and 8 out of 10 episodes, respectively, the third season got sexually explicit in only 5 out of 10. However, when it came to the duration of scenes with sex and nudity, the third season has both the first and second beat with a total of roughly 8 minutes and 30 seconds per scene. By comparison, the first season had 8 minutes and 10 seconds and the second season had 7 minutes and 40 seconds.

The thing I hate most about this show is I can't read anything about it without spoiling something! I go to read a character profile and purposely skip past parts I haven't seen yet but it still has how many episodes they are in which usually makes it easy to tell when they die :p.

I also hate the fact there is likely going to be 9 seasons. So basically 2020 by the time it's done an as annoying as it is, I'll probably lose interest way before then.

It's not just them though, that was the first link I read.

The only way you're going to make you mind up is by watching it. (unless you've already made your mind up) Series 1 can be had for under £12 from Flebay. That's cheap for 10+ hours worth.

Like all series they're never to everyone's taste, some will love it others not. The sexual content is probably more graphic than most TV series to date and series 1&2 have a few scenes that are probably more for impact than adding to the plot. But in the main it's plot driven and well acted with good characters. (series 3 has a better balance)
