Is getting a separate PhysX worth it?

I've just been playing a little Mirrors Edge, and I watched some gameplay videos comparing PhysX to non-PhysX graphics. The difference looked pretty cool.

So was wondering whether you people think getting a £40 - $50 nVidia card purely for PhysX would be worth it. If so, which one would they recommend. Looking for something that runs quiet & cool.

Note: My primary card is an AMD 6950 Twin Frozr III. I know that PhysX won't usually work with a primary AMD card, but there is apparently a simple hack with reqularly updated drivers that allows this:

not worth it.

Unless all your games use physx, all it will do is increase your temps. I tried with my 6970 and wasn't pleased

i use a 9600gso with a 460gtx.

running the benchmark on batman arkham asylum with phsyx on with just a 460, i was getting literally 4-5 fps.. the benchmark near enough stopped.

now with it all on full whack everythings perfectly smooth and runs fine.

so imo yes its worth it :). unless you have a powerful card i.e 570/580 which wouldnt need any help with physx

Yes, I have used hybrid physX in the past. If you want every extra detail in your games that use it then get it!

It doesn't cost that much if you can afford it.

I want my games to look as best I can so used it for about 2 years.

I cant do it just now though as I'm running 6950>70 Xfire 3 slot AC Extreme Coolers with nowhere for the 9800gt to fit. :(

If I get a new bulldozer/Sandybridge setup, with enough Pci-e spacing then it will be going back in!
