I would say the first Half Life is the best FPS of all time but HL2 was just merely 'good'. Probably an 8/10 game no higher. It was massively over-rated by the gaming press, all of them declaring it the best game ever with silly scores like 97/98%.
Is Cinematic Mod heavy on the system, or rather how well optimised is it? I've an i5 760, 4GB DDR3, and a GTX 260... could I max it out at 1680x1050 with a minimum of 40 fps with that?

Probably because, as I remember, it WAS the best PC FPS at the time, or at least the most complete package. You have to remember scores are in context of what else is out there at the time, not whats come since or in hindsight.
Am half tempted to download the latest CM and play through HL2 +EP1/2 again now after this thread.
