Is HDD dying?

Shows that 8 sectors were pending as possible bads and now they've been deemed uncorrectable, whats your ID 05 (reallocated sectors) like? Read the raw values.

From the looks of it those 8 will soon be reallocated, did the hdd experience a blow or some trauma? I'd keep an eye on it. You'd want 0 errors but over time some develop them and i've had hdds with 3-5 reallocated sectors working almost a decade without problems, once reallocated nothing will ever be written to it but if you keep getting them your hdd is likely dying. Download and run Seatools for Windows or DOS, whatever flavour you prefer, it might find the errors and reallocate (remap) the sectors.

Run seatools, it might force the remap. I'd keep an eye on it, Seagate will replace the drive however as i've returned based on reallocated sectors alone, i just claimed 'no seatools code' and 'certain the drive is faulty' in the RMA.

Not quite sure on their policy. Would open a thread in the customer forum with your order no. and go from there. Being 5 months old with those errors already usually is not a good sign.
