Just a quick question. I remember someone telling me that Holland had lots of dykes in it. Is this still the case?

Unless the population have all grown gills, then yes, I'm imagining dykes are still proving popular in Holland.

I think they do. I remember reading a story in primary school about a boy called Peter who had to put his finger in a dyke to save his village. He had his finger in the dyke for weeks I think. Good story that.

Holland will always need dikes, they had a massive dyke break and 100s died in the 50s/60s.

I think they have the worlds longest dike. Saw it on Discovery channel beind made.

Not sure.

Like most dykes it was very well built but there was only so much pounding it could take.

Dykes are full of all manner of things, pounding it won't achieve much but you may get an infection of sorts if you work too much on a loose crack.

Found the info on the dutch boy who stuck his finger in a crack on a dyke.
