I applied for this IT based job (applied to 10’s of different jobs post uni with not much luck) at the beginning of last week (the 30th) The next afternoon i had and email from the MD of this company asked me a couple of questions replied and on the Friday i had the interview (probably my first proper interview in years).

There seemed to be no else about (waiting to be interviewed )when i was waiting to go in and see this MD and turned to feel more like an informal chat type thing than a super formal thing , but at the end of it said i was going to have a phone interview to test my phone manner as i would be dealing with customers in my duties in the IT job do i consider this a good sign or not ? really want this job to get my foot in the door and the old bank balance is looking very small atm lol

any advice on a phone interview ? do i have good chance at getting this ?

just speak how you would expect to be spoken to on the phone! Don't slur or mumble, don't waffle on about a story that is mildly related. Be polite and precise with a happy tone :)

Usually it is a phone interveiw before an in person one, but if a lot of the work is phone based I guess it makes some sense to have one.

Advice? Have a pen and paper handy for notes and a drink nearby incase you get nervous / a dry mouth. Be somewhere quiet but comfortable and allow plenty of time for it. Don't use slang and make sure you speak clearly.Whether you'll get it? Who knows, but good luck. :)

Definitely a bad sign. If I was an employer, I would definitely call back all the people who definitely weren't going to get the job and give them a second interview.

Of course it's a good sign you noob! :p
