Is it a legal requirement to return a driving license during a disqualification?

Despite the irrefutable proof I was several thousand miles away and there was no way I could've known about any of this, they still went ahead and did it. I found out I was disqualified 2 weeks before returning back to Portugal :p - I've got a statuary declaration booked in in the future to try and argue it. But I can't see the courts actually siding with me.!

A statuary declaration isn't about you convincing them of anything, the Judge wont be on either side. I had to do one years ago for similar reasons. You'll basically go to court and tell the Judge that you had no idea of the alleged offence and subsequent points and fine, the Judge will quash the offence and return the matter back to the police. At the time my solicitor said that for minor offences the police don't usually try to re- prosecute and that was the end of the matter. I contacted DVLA and the points were removed from my license.

I had TT99 about 15 years ago - was horrific for insurance. One company said it would be better for me to have DR10 , as they know what the risk would be , than the catch all TT99 - totting up.
