Dear OcUK Friends...

I may have accidentally got a bit carried away with eBay this evening and happened to bag myself a AMD HD 7990 - I won't tell you the price, it will make your eyes water.

However, it gets worse. Today I also bought 3 x R9 290 cards and a 1000W Silverstone PSU.

My next question is - will me shiny new PSU be enough to power these four cards? If you haven't guessed already, I'll be mining with them so all the other componenets are very low specification.

I think I'm actually going to cry...

It will be used for mining yes. The CPU is a Sempron 145 Single Core and an AS Rock 970 AM3+
 
Do you think I'd be best sacking off one/two of the 290 cards or the 7990?

Will try and send the 1000W PSU back and get a bigger one?

The 1000W PSU will be enough for the cards alone you reckon?

My next question is - what would you recommend to power the rest of the system and how would I go about setting it up?

I was planning on using the riser cables to allow me to get more in. The board shouldn't be a problem.
 
I'm going to order a Super Flower 1300W this afternoon... Hope that's enough :p

Now I'm trying to source a decent motherboard / CPU bundle because the one I ordered has apparently gone out of stock.

Any suggestions guys?

It's all due to arrive tomorrow so will post some photos in the thread I made in Project Logs. It's obviously not as glamorous as some of the builds in there, but it's solely for mining nothing else.

With regards to the PSU - perhaps against official advice I've stuck with the 1300W one to see how I get on.

I'll keep the thread in PL updated with my success/disaster stories :p
