My friend recently had her line disconnected by BT because he never paid his bill, now they just reconnected him but he can't get on the Internet. He called AOL which is his ISP and they told him there is a tag on the line and he needs to call BT to get it removed. He phoned BT on friday and they said it takes 3-5 days for it to be removed, yet it still is not on and I been reading up on it and from what I have read, BT don't like removing tags and you wuld have to go through OFCOM to get them to do it, is there any truth in this?

no, BT will do it for you. It's just an ADSL tag left on the line from before. Basically with it being there, the system used to order ADSL on the BT phoneline side of things won't let you place the order. AOL ultimately submit an order through BT via their channels and so because the old tag still shows, the old ISP needs to request it is moved. It should go through in 3-5 days, but if it's been longer, give the BT department you spoke to before a quick call and ask them to check. Probably just a case of the auto robot part of the systems not comming the jobs off.

Ahhh ok, I read that an engineer had to do it but that must be wrong. I tell him to call them back on Tuesday.

Cheers
