I think my secondary HDD is dying, this morning i told it to unzip some files to get some files out, and it started clicking whilst it was doing it, it completed, and said the files were allready there, so i said yeah, overwrite, the it said it again, i said no, it kept doing this untill i canceled it, then it stopped clicking, so, is this dying or not, as its got ~160Gb of Data, pics music, etc on it

thinking of getting a 1Tb HDD, but copying 110Gb over would take years on XP Pro SP3 correct?

depends on the file sizes a lot of small files will take longer than a few big files... there are so many variables its hard to say how long.. if by years you mean a few hours then you are probably right..

If there is no where you can copy your data id remove the power connector from the drive until I had a backup option, if its on its way out it could pack up totally at any time..

its my data drive, all my documents, music, vids, everything, and no room on main/boot/OS and no spare, thinking of a Samsung Spinpoint F1 1Tb??
