Is it illegal to smoke in tunnels?

Fire risk for sure. Dog ends flicked out of windows whilst the traffic is backed up is a hazard in a tunnel. If it is because of the fumes then someone needs slapping but the Fire risk theory seems right to me.

It must be because of fire.

I'm pretty sure that the Wallesey Tunnel has had no smoking signs up for as long as I can remember!

I had that walking through a tunnel, the security guard stopped me and told me to put my fag out halfway through.
