You're telling meNope, you'll find a lot of mk1 MX5 owners ditch the spare wheel for a can of tyre foam to free up some boot space.

It's not inspected on the MOT. Only if the wheel's on the car during the MOT or you get pulled over.QUOTE]
Im sure it is, if you have one cause if theres not enough tread left then its like not having enough tread left on any other tyre.
Also when I went to take my car for its last MOT they asked me if I had a spare tyre and if I didnt then do I have a can of that stuff that sorts your flat tyre out. Im sure that more details about this will be somewhere on the web.

The condition of the spare tyre is not part of the MOT.
I could fill up my boot with a load of old wheels with bald tyres on, and they couldn't do a thing about it.
Sheesh.![]()

Go right ahead, but at least get a can of tyre foam or somethingWell I think that Im going to remove mine now seem as theres no need for it.
So, what do you do when an E39 M5 has a flat tyre?... The E39 M5 has non-runflat tyres and no spare wheel as the exhaust goes where the spare wheel well would normally be.
So, what do you do when an E39 M5 has a flat tyre?
Citroëns used to have a wonderful system called "hydropneumatic suspension". It was capable of independently raising and lowering individual wheels. One problem was that if you got a flat, it would automatically adjust the ride height of that wheel to compensate - cunning huh?Make sure DSC is left firmly on![]()

Has anyone actually used one of these "tyre foam" kits?It has an M Mobility Kit in the boot which is basically a compressor and a can of tyre foam but you'd need to be recovered if there was serious damage to the tyre.
I'm afraid you are wrong. There is no obligation to carry a spare tyre, there is no obligation to carry a can of tyre foam. Spare tyre (presence/lack of/condition) is not part of the MOT test.

I think that you will find that most Citroëns had independent suspension all round; if they hit a pothole, the suspension on that wheel extended and contracted to absorb the shock; in the case of a flat tyre, the suspension lowered that wheel to keep the car level - I could be wrong but I don't think so.[TW]Fox;15108888 said:No it wasn't. The system raised and lowered the whole car not individual wheels.
Is it, I thought that Peugeot had dumped it. On what car is it still used?[TW]Fox;15108888 said:[Hydropneumatic suspension] is still in use today.
So you aren't (or weren't) completely lacking in discernment then[TW]Fox;15108888 said:I had one as my first car.
