Is it just me or has the FPS on BF2 gone down?

omg i think some people have asked you already not to bring it on to the forums,

people are trying to help you????

right i think your problem is the 9550 was perfect for cel 2.9 as it is a low spec cpu with a lower spec card,

your 6800 wants more grunt ( it wants a p4 / amd 64) to make it shine.

ive seen this many times before

In a way i would agree with Gavindo here, the CPU is OK, but i did warn you before purchase the card would bottleneck slightly, and BF2 is fairly heavy on the CPU on larger player maps.

Try a 32 man map and see if you get any improvements, it might just be that your CPU doesnt like the idea of 64 players.

All my other games run better than the 9550 =\

I know i need a new CPU, cant afford one yet.

problem is bf2 is one of them games that munches hardware,
it likes fast cpu / and loads of ram.

ive got a celeron clocked at 4 gig and it runs bf2 like crap ?

but itl play other games fine.

This kid punk should be banned. He's insulted other members.

His computer is crap and expects miracles out of tweaks. Just buy a new machine, oops you're a kid so tough luck.

BF2 needs requires certain level of hardware, and the Celeron isn't a very good CPU. BF2 needs 2GB of ram also.

Heh, another know it all .

As Stellios has said, BF2 is quite a CPU dependant game, and likes a lot of power. You'll see varying differences in performance on games as the engines are all different and some like lots of RAM and CPU power (ala BF2), and some like a lot more graphical power.

Whenever I get any major new hardware, I do a full reformat of the PC, full wipe, and everything is nice and clean and only the right drivers installed.

As that's likely not the best option, making sure you've got your latest Motherboard chipset, DirectX, nVidia drivers all installed correctly and up to date is the main thing, and that there's no naughty little ATI drivers in there still.

And maybe a reinstall of BF2 too.

im not sure what your implying by that, but be careful. your not in a position to accuse people of abusing you on msn.

as for BF2, i believe the biggest problem is the huge varient in framrate. crap card+crap cpu and its fine - its gonna slow all over, but maybe having a highframe rate and then seeing it slam thru the floor is worse overall?

i dunoo, something to think about. at any rate - a celly wont cut it for bf2. no way no how.

My 9550 didnt give me a high frame rate, if thats what your trying to say. For some reason it ran bf2 better, but my card runs all the other games better than my 9550 did.

Any your one S.O.B ;)

Go on, report my post, i know you want to.

Not everyone can afford a X1900 or top of the range card every time they appear. Im sitting on a 6800 and its running BF2 quite nicely, differnce is im running a 3200 Venice, compared to his Celeron.

Not everyone has cash to throw away at computers.
