Is it just me or is Firefox getting pretty unstable?

Opera, so damn stable (I ditched Firefox due to these problems). It takes a while to get used to the basic look, but give it a skin and customise it a little and it makes a brilliant web portal. Email and Browsing, lovely (not new things, but it just does them so damn well).

Having the same problems with Firefox as other people mentioned above. Till now I thought it was a problem with my PC, that Windows needed reinstalling or something, but I'm currently on my gf's pc which is a completely different setup (mine's an Athlon XP on XPpro, hers is a Celeron-M on XPhome), and the Cpu usage just shot up to 100% just by my opening another tab! It's gotten worse since I installed Google toolbar as well.

I'm definitely going back to Opera now that i know it's not the fault of my build... the only thing Firefox has going for it over Opera is the IE-like autocomplete feature, and the fact that they haven't released a version of google toolbar for opera yet anyway.

Search forums for the victory! Why a question when everything's been answered by the Oracular Collective UK? :p

Anyone know in which of the 3 stickies that "quick fix" that CurlyWhirly mentioned is?

2.02 is ridiculously buggy, mine crashes at least once ever couple of days. I downgraded back to good old stable 2.0 and haven't had any problems since ;)

I have 20 enabled extensions and have not had a single Firefox Crash since upgrading to v2 from 1.5 !

I wubs FF =)

If you are having firefox issues I would say it's almost certain it's extension related with an unstable extension somewhere!

BTW I access my FF from work via remote desktop and it's pretty much a severe workhorse which is never closed.

I have a problem with the English UK dictionary which doesn't seem to understand the difference between the US one. No crashes though.

never have any crashes here, it does use a silly amount of memory though, just restarted it because it was using 250mb

That ain't nothing, I've had it use 1.5GB before when I browsed a thread that was full of photos (of babes no less!)

Though normally STEAM is the memory user-upper-of-choice!

I had a plethera (woah, big word there...) of issues with earlier versions of firefox, so many that I moved to Opera and haven't really looked back. I'm sure that the newer versions will work fine on my machine, but in terms of web browsers I feel I don't need to fix anything that ain't broken... :D

erm, ive had no problems with it recently actually. id go as far as saying its never been better. i've had 20-30 pages open, no problems. no real problems with websites and if i do come across one it doesnt like i just right click and launch it in explorer. right now im very happy with firefox:)

Like someone else has posted it to easy to blame firefox & not the extensions as the extensions never popup and say i have crashed, they just take down FF with out you knowing.

In the good old days of Firebird and older versions of firefox it used to be really quick and hardly ever crash, nowadays it crashes at least once a day, I was reading the favourite GIFs thread and FF just froze for about 20 secs at a time 3 or 4 times before I closed it. It also seems to take longer to load up now too :(

Anyone else found this?

I've not had any problems with it, 100% stable for me
