I used to play wow (i had 4 level 80's :D ) but i left in Jan (mostly cause of the arrognant small minded, racist losers who play end game -_-) . Anyway ive recently started playing champions online and found the change refreshing! but Just like the line from godfather 3 "just as i think im out...they pull me back in!" lol I saw a trailer for the new wow addon cata, got nastalgic and I decidded to get a WoW trial and see if i could get back into.

My god.. The game seems to have become SO easy compared to just 6-7 months ago. I leveled to level 10 in just under an hour and i wasnt even trying. ALL of the enemys were 'yellow' in the starting area compared to when it used to be some what of a challenge. I got two 6 slot bag straight away from killing mobs around the level 1 area.

I know new users may want to get to level 80 asap but come on.. Where's the challenge? I personly think blizzard are missing the point of a game. I love playing MMO's for the challenge and feeling you get from working hard to get to the next level (sad-o lol)Now you just seem to be given levels, from just doing 4-5 quests. Why dont they just start people at level 60 and have done with it lol

They have SO much content but they are just pushing people past it. All the level 60 raids, 70 raids etc and now the lower level content. I didnt get there but i bet the deadmines have been made easier too -_-

Needless to say im going back to champions online. While its not perfect, it seems more fun than WoW right now :(

Whole game has been way too easy since vanilla, it was a decent game back then but they've been ruining it ever since, obviously, the multitude of fans boys will disagree, and probably quote the subscriptions numbers as their sole arguement

I don't see how making it take longer, makes it anymore of a "challenge". The only way you could consider something that takes longer as being harder is if you consider the time spent doing it to be gruelling, which would boast the question, why are you playing this game? But that's why I don't play these kind of mmos anymore.

Yeah but WoW has gotten to the point where i would guess 95% of players are rerollers and could'nt give a toss about low level stuff and only care about getting to 80 as fast as possible so Blizzard are catering for them.

Dumbing down, or simplifying MMO's to make it easier for newer players is a hallmark of every single MMO in existence. It attracts more players and gets them into the core game quicker. Seen heaps of mmo's do this over the years and WoW won't be an exception.

60-70 takes ages and im 74 at the moment and it feels like a eternity between levels so I really don't understand the whole it takes no time thing.

I honestly think I would still be level 40 if we where back in the old school wow. Even now it feels like a chore levelling at 70 odd

They've done that to get new players into the game quicker - Blizzard have come out and said as much. Their priority, up till now, was to get people to the endgame as quick as possible - hence the XP caps lowering significantly, RAF boosts, heirlooms etc.

In Cata that all changes - they're ripping up the old world and starting again. Levelling a fresh character will involve completely new content and will feel much more like it did when you first played the game. They're also completely reworking stats, spell and how/when you get your class abilities. I don't expect it to be particuarly challenging (in all honesty, it rarely was) but you can't say that Blizzard are resting on their laurels.

In my opinion, Blizzard are actually aiming the expansion primarily at new players - people with multiple 80s don't really care about the 1-60 experience changing. Unless you roll a new character, the 80-85 experience will be pretty much like the previous expansions - get new gear that replaces your hard earned epics, plough to max level ASAP, then start grinding heroics to gear you for the first raids.

Lol 70-80 was amazing hard >< took around 12-14 hard hours grinding to level >< w

That's not hard, that's just time. Hard is when if you're distracted by the TV for 2 secs and whatever you're killing for a quest kills you instead, pretty sure original EQ and AO players know what I mean.

I played wow from 05-07, I look at the game now and facepalm. It's not like it's only just become bad in the last 6 months. It went downhill years ago.

Badge system has fundamentally ruined the game, it's not the fact its dumbed it down thats ruined it, its because no matter what teir of gear has come out, you can get it just by running the same content again and again.

no it doesnt or your doing it wrong...

one dungeon run even at lvl68 is almost 1/4 of a level and a dungeon takes about 20minutes to clear

WoTLK was the casual friendly patch which amde it easier. Vanilla was hard, the endgame BC encounters were hard and nothing in WoTLK was except a very select few hard-modes. Pre-nerf Ulduar Hard modes were pretty tricky for example and still required some tight play and tactics.

Levelling is easy when you know what you are doing, can bring a char from 0 to 80 in ~5 days /played (No rested other than what gains are accumulated while I sleep) and have it in full epics within a week of dinging 80.

MMORPG's are always easy, they aren't meant to be hard. Providing you have more then the average intelligence of a 13 year old, I'm pretty sure you won't have a problem figuring out the game mechanics (eg: Fire>Water and STR is a more useful stat for a warrior then for a mage).

With that being said, just because you level faster doesn't mean it's "easier", it just takes less time. In fact, you could argue that it makes the game harder at the end since you've had less preparation in dealing with quests, instances and people since you got to the end faster. Getting to 60 before took longer so you had more time to learn new things, meet new people and hopefully build a group of friends, now it's so fast that by the time you hit 80 you don't even remember what you did around 30-50.

So, not to undermine your philosophical opinion on what's "easy" but perhaps you would benefit from taking a break and exploring what other options are available. It appears to me like you have grown bored of this game.

snip... and have it in full epics within a week of dinging 80.

Purple is the new blue :(

I remember people swarming round you in Org when you wore a single piece of t2.

It has become a great deal easier, from levelling to raiding, they call it more customer friendly, some call it dumbing down.
It however suits me now, I'm looking to play casual again, and there is no way I could have done that during vanilla or TBC

MMORPG's are always easy

Easy to play, much harder to master. Not so easy if you ever dipped your toes into the hardcore scene working on pre-nerf encounters for example.

Collaborative execution for some of the harder encounters in the game took much practice and exposing people as much as possible before it would mesh nicely and result in a killed boss, some encounters the margin for error was close to nil.

The game is easier than I'd like in some ways, but in some ways not. Blizzard also are just really catering for the larger majority of their audience and I can't really blame them for that.

The casual players far out number the hardcore raiders. I'm in a raiding guild where most of us have jobs a wife or girl friend some have kids.

It suits me perfectly right now, i enjoy raiding and the team work side of the game but i dont wanna spend all day every day playing.

For newer players and rerollers without the current system it would be impossible for them to catch up gear wise. Since its next to impossible to get groups for the raids like naxx and ulduar.

Plus i still think the challenge is there if you want it. There are some hard to get achivmeants as well as heroic versions of the raids. That the more hardcore wow players can go for.
