a month back, my 2 month old rig died on me. i have since concluded that it was the mobo as apart from the psu, i tested the other components. my question is, how do i know if the psu is the problem. would everything still power up if it was. im running an evga 680i and 1000w bfg psu. everything on the board powers up, ie all fans, led's etc but i dont get anything happening, not even a bios and get 2 dashes displaying on the onboard display. also, in standby, theres a blue and orange led when there only ever used to be the blue. if it were my psu, could all this still happen

Reset CMOS. If that doesn't work, flash the BIOS. If that doesn't work, try each RAM module seperately (if you havent already). If that doesnt work, RMA the motherboard.

yeah tried all those. already tried to rma the motherboard through ocUk but it was denied as ive lost the socket protector. just wondering if it could have been the motherboard. i was going to send it back to evga usa but just checked shiiping prices and its going to cost me £20 to ship there and they said they can only post back to a usa adress, so im a bit stuck. tried the european branch but theyve been crap, no help at all. am probably going to have to get a new mobo, but just wanted to make sure it wasnt my psu before i waste another £200

do you think i should be put off this mobo, or you think theres no risk in just going for another one. not sure what my options are really. dont want to spend any more than i would on a new evga, so possibly looking at the bfg, not sure.

You can get a PSU tester for a tenner, which compared to the mobo or the PSU itself is pennies. Get that. Test PSU. Then RMA accordingly. If it is the mobo you can the get the same mobo, and you can RMA the old one with the new socket protector ,and sell it when you get the RMA - recouping your initial outlay.
