Hi guys,

Looks like the weather has had the better of the sticky pads holding my front number plate on (had to drove throygh about a foot deep water on Saturday!

Anyway, is it ok to drive for a few days without the front plate on whilst I get the correct screws etc and screw it on? Really don't want to screw it on, I like the clean plate look!!

Thanks,

Mal

It's a £30 fixed penalty notice for failiure to display a numberplate so, no, it's not ok to drive without a front numberplate. It's also fairly obvious to spot as well so it's up to you if its worth taking the risk.

Don't use screws, just get more sticky pads.

ps - I drove past 4 or 5 police cars today, just shown how on the ball they were!!

But if each of them had stopped you, there would have been uproar about how they should be catching burglars instead of targeting motorists to fund their xmas do etc etc :p

Just put it on dash inside.

interesting thread.

There seem to be quite a few people with s2000's without front plates, and they just put them on the dash... never seem to moan about getting done !

as above, £30 on the spot fine for a 4-wheel+ vehicle not displaying a front plate (or even a front plate not mounted properly)

words of experience ^ :p

why would you do that as a long term measure?

however good the front of the car looks, the dash has a numberplate plonked on it!??! plus you cant see the front of the car when you are sitting in the drivers seat.;)

Never had a front plate on my previous car and it went unnoticed for a good 6 months until one day where the police followed me onto my drive. They thought i was doing it to get out of speed cameras and went away after i showed them some double sided sticky tape that i 'just' bought.

Needless to say it was promptly fixed on after that.

And try not to touch the area you are about to apply them to, the grease on your fingers stops a good contact :)
