Is it ok to drive without a FRONT number plate?

Any recommendations for good sticky pads that won't die in the cold/wet etc etc??
I use some heavy duty velcro with mine, originally used it with my black/silver plates on the basis that I thought I would get pulled over soon after fitting them but they lasted over 6 months on the car. Halfords or B&Q sell it for about £7.99, enough to do both plates.

I had the front number plate off the MX5 for a while. Didn't get stopped and it looked soooo much better. I had to put it back on when I sold it, but I just used a stick on one instead.

Stick it on the front dash while you're getting it sorted out. Technically illegal; but a copper would have to be having a really bad day to book you for it.

A missing front plate is handy for those annoying "Average speed check" type camera's you get at the bottom of the M1 near Hemel.

Not that I'd condone such a tactic. ahem. ;)

Loads of people I know dont run front plates on there cars, dont know one thats had a ticket yet, but yes its worth a 30 quid ticket.

Mates all have them on mk1 caddies golfs etc... so police seem to respect a nice vehicle without one more maybe
