Ok guys iv just got a 1080p 42" tv.
I have my pc linked to it by an hdmi cable and it works fine but is it posable for me 2 watch a film from my pc to the tv with the sound come out of the tv. Also play a game on my moniter with the sonud coming out off my pc speckers???

if so how do i do it?

everytime i have tried to run dual screen and do this it hasnt worked as planned as you fullscreen the film on one side then when you full screen the game on the other monitor it would mess up the movie. but i do reamember getting it to work cause i would play Counter stricke as my friends was watching house on the other screen, i am not sure if i ran both in windowed mode, but with both windows being slightly beigger then their respective monitors.

i do remember i used to use a program called ultramon and that was a lot of help and enabled me to do a lot of things, i think it was ultramon? look up the proggy see if that helps fella :)

and to the sound... not 100% how you would go about doing that really... maybe you could use another proggy to route the sound? all i know about is the video but maybe you could like rount the sound from the game to a front headphone port and other sound to the hdmi?

sorry i ment i want the sound out the tv speakers and out the pc speakers at the same time . For example watever is on the tv like a film with the sound comin out the tv speakers and watever is on the moniter like a game i want the sound comin out of the pc speakers

iv sorted the video

and for the sound i dont know if that will work?

Basically you want picture in picture but you want the two pictures to have their separate sound.

Im guessing you have a graphics card with the audio being delt with on it as i cannot see how you would have a problem otherwise??

And as far as i can remember ultramon is a program that allows you to sync multiple monitors together. Have not known it to handle PiP or sort the audio out  i would be baffled if it could :p

Hope this helps

Ok then ultramon will deffo help with the picture for sure. good piece of software IMO.

I dont know of any soundcards will allow two audio outputs thats the main problem here. Im prehaps thinking that there may be a card that allows a digital signal out as well as an analougue one.

The digital signal will be through an optical cable and will require speakers that have optical input. The analougue will be to the TV obviously...The only problem is, is that can you split the audio that i dont know. Your best bet is to re-post this thread into the soundcity section. The guys in there are more of an audiophile than what i am :p. If a card exists that can handle two outputs then they'l deffo be able to point you in the right direction.

i dont think that will work due to when i use the audio out of the tv it uses the sound chip on the gpu not the sound card but if i managed to split the sound and had one out of my sound card and one out off my gpu using the hdmi cable that will do the job but how can i do that!

Depending on the video card (if it's got HDMI sound onboard like most Ati cards), you can set the Film playback software to use the HDMI sound for the film playback rather than the main sound.
Have a play around with the "sound device" in the playback software :)

For example my machine currently has 3 sound devices.
Onboard Sound on the motherboard (I use that for voice comms).
SB Audigy which I use for most things.
HDMI Audio (it's an ATI card) which I use when i'm playing a video file on the TV.

TBH ive never played around with having sound come out of my 285 gtx i find that the X-Fi Champion handles that fine. :D and a great soundcard IMO.

However now i know that you can fiddle around with the sound devices to channel certain things through separate devices this may be handy for a possible future build :P

Ok im stuck i cant find out how to do it

Look on your task bar hopefully you should have your sound card quick launch options, right click and this should bring up a menu, click Audio devices this should bring up a new menu and hopefully enable HDMI sound.

ok i dont realy know how but iv done it. Iv got it workin with windows media player iv just told ccc to use theater mode and messing with devices in windows media player options . anyone know how to do it with vlc player????
