Is it possible to clone a partition?

beasically I know when people get an SSD they usually clone for ease of use, but for my SFF system the previous owner split a 500gb so there was an x amount for storage, but they used windows 8 pro and upgraded to 10 so for me if I was to get an SSD it would be easier to clone, but I wouldn’t want to partition the drive personally.

So is it possible or a clone is for whole drive only?

It should be possible.

If not, clone the entire drive, delete to unwanted partition, and then extend the remaining partition to use the now available free space.

Definitely possible. I used Macrium reflect the other day and had the option of cloning the whole drive or just certain partitions. Chose to just clone a select few partitions as I was in a similar scenario to you.
