Is it possible to put a diesel engine in a once petrol car

Thats crazy talk! Tell us more.

It's a VAG 1.9TDi engine, I think from a Fabia VRS, but will be chipped as well.

Will be in an S2 Exige or 111R donor car and will be run on biofuel.

He's doing it as it hasn't been done before and will be a bit interesting, plus it will annoy the purists somewhat :p

I wonder if the 'box fitted to the Exige would mate upto one of those crazy Toyota 170-odd BHP diesels.

I've never seen an Elise with a diesel engine, but I have seen more than a few Westfields with a TD lump in 'em. IIRC Westfield even had their own demonstrator diesel.
0-60 in 5.5 and 60mpg.

Sounds interesting, so about 150hp of clattery smokeyness in an elise :D Would get huge mpg with the elise being so light. Have you got any build links? would be interested to see that thats for sure.

No build links yet, he's still getting all the bits together.

It'll be interesting as the engine weighs about 150kg so won't do the handling many favours but it should be about 200bhp and 330lb/ft of torque!

At least the engine is in the right place to handle a weight increase.
