Is it possible to retrieve an audio file from temp folder?

I need some help. My kid brother was doing a DJ set on the radio last night as well as an interview. He still lives at home and asked my parents not to turn the computer off as he was downloading it. I think what he was doing was streaming it from the radio station and probably going to copy if from the temp folder when he got back. However, as he was doing a gig last night, my dad switched the computer off before retiring for the night. Am I right in thinking that the temp folder is automatically emptied when the system is restarted? Is it possible to retrieve the file if he used system restore? Would really appreciate any help as this was his first broadcast and he would obviously like a copy for a variety of reasons. Thanks.

Open a CMD window and type
set t
this should show you what temp folders are set, check these folders and just look for a file around the right time and it'll probably be pretty large especially if it was a wav.

Also check the options in the app he was using encase that has it's own setting for a temp folder.

The problem you may have is if the app itself cleared the temp file on shut down if it wasn't told to save.

He was using Windows Media player.
How do you bring up a CMD window?

Thanks for your help.I will try that later. Much appreciated.
