Is it possible to setup a new RAID 1 with 1 new HDD, and 1 old HDD with data?

They are the exact same size and model of hard disks (WD2500KS). I had one of them for storage and now i want to mirror that data as a backup.

I've already used NVRaid and setup at raid 1 array with them, in the SATA 3 and SATA 4 slots on my mobo.
But when i get into windows (which has the taskbar and apps loading really slow since i set it up, probably Nortons fault) i cannot see the new RAID drive, or the 2 separate drives in either explorer or Partition Magic.

I'm totally stuck here, any ideas?

You won't see the mirror drive at all other than in the RAID BIOS setup screen, it's just invisible to the system. I've not used the NVRaid - only the Promise one, but I would have thought there should be a Windows-based maintenance utility which will let you see both drives, and whether they are functional.
