a docking station, you can turn a laptop on without opening the lid, but not from a keyboard. i use mine at a docking station and dont need to open the lid but i need to turn it on..SiriusB said:So you want to avoid opening your laptop to switch it on with the On button by opening it up and switching it on with the keyboard instead? :/
That makes absolutely no sense.
And in answer to your question: No.

So you guys are saying there is no way to switch the laptop on without opening the lid? I read somewhere that you could put the laptop into hibernate mode and in this mode you could leave the laptop always on for like a week or more, and then you press a key on say a wireless keyboard which will then make the laptop startup again, is this possible? And how would i do it?
I mean tell me guys, is this the only other way to do it?

shine said:Nope - if he has an external keyboard plugged into the laptop he doesn't need to open the laptop to press the power button. Most external keyboards will already have a sleep button.
