I can set it up to receive my sky emails no problem but they either download to the phone or the PC, which ever picks them up first.

Is there a way to have the same emails on both the phone and the PC?

Best way to do that would be to configure your email client on your PC, and on the phone to connect to your inbox via IMAP. That way they stay on the server (including your own folders) and each device would have the same emails.

Or you could tell the email clients when configured via POP to leave messages on the server.

Another thing you could do is setup a gmail address to collect mail from the Sky POP server and use the Gmail app for emails.

IMAP, lost me there, i would have to look into that.

I have it configured now the leave a copy on the server. I can log into Sky Mail and my emails are there and they will also download to the PC, but not to the phone if the PC has picked them up first??

If i set gmail (on the Desire) to collect the POP emails would they still download to the PC?

Thanks for the help!

Leave emails on the server is a client setting. So you need to set it on the email client on your phone (sounds like you've done that) and then also set it on the email client on your pc.

I set that on the PC, but not the phone. I will try that.

And no matter what picks the email up first, i will still have the same emails on phone, PC, and sky mail website?

The IMAP option looks good, just reading into it. Sky recommend to use that for all clients instead of POP.

I'm using Sky email on my Desire. Log into your Sky email online and go to Mail Settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP. Here you can enable IMAP and also if you are using POP, tell it to leave a copy in Sky's mail box.

I use IMAP on my Desire and works a treat. Easier then messing about with POP.

IMAP was disabled on the skymail online, so i enabled it and printed off the instruction for setting up the iphone to use IMAP, should be prety much the same for the desire. I'll setup IMAP on outlook 2007 aswell on the PC when i get home.

And yours downloads email to both phone and PC?

With IMAP the mail will always be stored on the server and the phone/PC will just download a copy and sync the folders if you send or delete mail.

Yeah same emails on PC and phone and until today, same emails on iPhone. Just an FYI, if you read a new email on your phone, the same email will not be new (unread) on your PC too and vice versa.

Set up IMAP. Seems to be working.
Is it normal that i cant delete the emails in the "All Mail" tab? As you see over 15,000 emails and they wont delete, i get a strike-through then they reappear.

Using K9 Mail frm the Marketplace, I get push emails using IMAP Idle (setup as Push, with a poll frequncy of never).

Mail arrives on my Desire within 5 seconds of my desktop client.
