Hey Guys,

Let's say you wanted to buy a new Aston Martin that was sitting in a showroom which was manual. Could it be taken back to the Aston Martin factory and be converted into a sport shift (steering wheel f1 gear clickers). Do Aston Martin even do this? This sport shift is an option that Aston Martin have over the manual drives. Could it be done or does the car need to be made from the ground up to be either sport shift or manual?

Of course it could be done, the factory would remove the gearbox and all necessary trim/electrics and switch them all over.

There would be absolutely no point in practice though, as the cost would be far more than simply buying the right one.

you could in theory

but it would be prohibitively expensive and nobody would be likely to do it. Aston will likely do anything for you if you've got enough money to throw around.

Question is do you ? if not just wait for one to come up 2nd hand with the option already specified.

Before you get ripped to shreds....

I'd guess if you paid them enough anything's possible, whether they offer it as a service I doubt though. You'd be better off selling that aston and buying another to replace it entirely.

EDIT: Beaten to it

many thanks for your replies

The reason I ask is because a friend of mine just bought an aston martin from a dealer but never actually visited the showroom. The dealer he bought his Aston Martin from was taking so long with delivery makes him think that maybe the dealer was misleading with the fact that the car was an automatic where in fact it was a manual and he wondered if the car was going to Aston Martin factory to be converted into an automatic. This isn't plausible right?

no

you'd have to pay big money to have it converted

dealers most certainly wouldnt go round offering it for free.

do you ever stop? :p

AM will do it but expect to be pay over the odds (might aswell buy a new AM) as its an additional service.

and if they did, the car would be a load of rubbish anyway. Either get it like that with 0 miles or dont bother.

Who on earth would you buy a hugely expensive car without driving it or even seeing it first!

if you are going to make stories up, at least make them belivable
